My Opinion of JEM 230

Considering this is just the second day in this class, I don’t have much of an opinion be it good or bad. However, I will admit that I am a little apprehensive, simply because I am afraid of the potential workload and the requirements this class entails. I think hearing all the different assignments and requirements we have in this short time span all at once is what has me most afraid. Now, I am a hard worker and I know that I can excel at anything that I put my mind to, but that isn’t complete consolation. I’m sure that as time goes along and we learn new skills, techniques and information, that I will much more comfortable in this field. I come in to this course, with hopes of gaining more in-depth hands-on experience in the field or media reporting. Although I do have some previous experiences with reporting, I am yearning to learn more and take in any advice and knowledge the instructor shares with us.  I can say that Mr. Yuran has done a great job thus far with helping us understand assignments and understanding the information already presented. I can already tell that he will be an excellent resource for us as it relates to any questions or concerns we may have in this particular field.

  1. Break into 2 paragraphs and indent.

Try breaking up your posts into paragraphs for easier reading.
Otherwise, good word choice and thoughts!

I can definitely identify with that feeling of being overwhelmed. I plan to take things one day at a time and try not to stress so much.

  4. Yeah. It was too soon to tell what would take place.

Good job covering all of the points in the class (workload, instructor, etc.). But maybe split up the paragraph? It runs pretty long.

  6. Ashley Hill says:

I completely agree with everything that was written in this blog. I am also afraid of what our professor has in store for this course. The workload does make me a little nervous but I am sure that it will not be too bad that we cannot handle it.

  7. Dzmitry is great! Gotta love him. I love how your blog is a real blog, it’s personal and expresses your own internal thoughts, whereas mine is more formal and more an assignment. I’d encourage you to continue writing personally! It makes these posts a lot easier to read through!

  8. I think we’re all a little nervous about the workload. I’ve had Yuran before, though. He’ll be gentle.

I am with you with this being a lot of work in a short time, but Mr. Yuran has done a good job at explaining.

  10. Dzmitry says:

When she sees me overwhelmed with work, my fiancee often asks me, “How do you eat an elephant?” Apparently, one piece at a time….
Yes, the workload in this class is rather heavy. However, If you break it down into manageable chunks, it will look less terrifying.

  11. Ian Norwood says:

I think we all share a similar fear of the heavy workload but practice makes perfect. This class should be a great learning experience.

  12. ksummitt says:

You have a very natural writing style, which engages the reader conversationally. Good job!

  13. I am with you that the class has been hard to get a feel for after only a few days. Looks like things will be clarified more as they happen.

  14. mmarti68 says:

I am glad I am not the only one nervous about the workload.
